November 4, 2026 — Yesterday, 50 out of 56 candidates endorsed by the ELM Action Fund were elected to state office. In January, these climate champions will take office across our Commonwealth, including 8 State Senators and 38 State Representatives.
Voters across the United States turned out for candidates prioritizing a healthier future for our communities and environment. In Massachusetts, voters largely chose climate champions on their ballots.
“Our ELM Action Fund-endorsed candidates prioritize the health of our environment and communities,” stated Casey Bowers, Executive Director of the ELM Action Fund. “We are proud to have worked across our Commonwealth and look forward to working with these climate champions to pass policies that advance our clean energy future and protect our natural resources.”
This state election cycle, the ELM Action Fund encouraged hundreds of thousands of residents to vote for our endorsed candidates by knocking on doors, making phone calls, sending voting reminder emails, and running digital ads.
The newly launched Instagram @elmactionfund featured conversations with candidates about their environmental priorities and key information about voting registration and ways to vote. ELM Action Fund will continue to feature candidates on Instagram and on the Massachusetts Green Voter Guide, which makes it easy for residents to find environmental champions on their ballots.
The ELM Action Fund Independent Expenditure PAC reached voters in support of Governor Maura Healey and Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll. These efforts focused on digital ads promoting the cost-saving benefits of clean energy, energy efficiency, and the Healey-Driscoll Administration’s climate priorities.
The ELM Action Fund is proud to have supported many endorsed candidates, including:
Governor Maura Healey and Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll secured another four-year term, continuing their Administration’s work to advance Massachusetts’ climate goals, lower costs, expand clean energy development, and protect the Commonwealth’s natural resources.
Attorney General Andrea Campbell won re-election, continuing her work to hold polluters accountable and defend the Commonwealth’s climate progress against federal attacks.
Taunton voters re-elected Representative Lisa Field in a closely contested race, securing another term as a strong advocate for clean energy, labor priorities and an equitable energy transition in the 3rd Bristol District.
Representative Margaret Scarsdale successfully advanced through a competitive race for the 1st Middlesex District seat. She has been a strong advocate for environmental progress and securing funding for state energy and environmental agencies.
Representative Meg Kilcoyne won re-election in the 12th Worcester District and will return to the State House ready to protect the Commonwealth’s water resources, expand access to open space, and invest in clean energy resources.
Representative Kristin Kassner secured re-election to the 2nd Essex District seat. She has been a leading voice for coastal resiliency and protecting the Commonwealth’s water resources.
Jack Richardson defeated a longtime House incumbent in the 3rd Barnstable District and is prepared to enter the State House to advocate for clean water and conservation. Nearby, Senator Dylan Fernandes won re-election in the Plymouth and Barnstable District, where he has championed offshore wind, clean energy host communities, and coastal resilience.
The ELM Action Fund commends all endorsed candidates who lost their races; their dedication to making climate a key issue on the campaign trail brought new energy and awareness to the debate.
The ELM Action Fund’s electoral work was bolstered by our Campaign and Advocacy Fellows program, a paid opportunity during which fellows work directly alongside endorsed candidates’ campaigns. In 2026, four fellows joined our efforts to elect environmental champions.
