The Environmental League of Massachusetts Action Fund PAC has endorsed Representative Denise Garlick of Needham in the election for the 13th Norfolk State Representative district, a credit to her commitment to the environment.
“She knows that towns like Needham and across the state will benefit from a clean energy economy that will power us into the future,” said ELM Action Fund Executive Director Joe O’Brien.
“As a nurse and public health advocate, Representative Garlick has seen the negative effects of climate change firsthand,” said ELM Action Fund President Elizabeth Henry. “She has experience and a perspective that we need in the State House.”
Representative Garlick has worked to raise both the renewable portfolio standard and the net metering cap. She also stands in strong support of policies that promote environmental justice.
“Climate change is real and it is happening right at this moment,” said Representative Garlick. “I share our community’s deep concern about climate change — and I know that investing in clean energy is key to the future of our state.”
Representative Garlick and her husband, Russell, are long-time residents of Needham, Massachusetts. They are the proud parents of four children. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and currently serves on the Harvard School of Public Health Environmental Research Center Advisory Board. Before she was elected to the State House in 2010 she was the Vice-Chair of the Needham Board of Selectmen, served as the Chair of the Needham Board of Health, and as a Town Meeting Member.
