Kim Driscoll Endorsed for Lieutenant Governor by Environmental League of Massachusetts Action Fund

The Environmental League of Massachusetts Action Fund has endorsed Kim Driscoll for Lieutenant Governor, a credit to her commitment to the environment and climate action. With issues of environmental justice, public health, transportation, and energy policy inextricably linked, we need leaders who understand the pressing issues of the Commonwealth and will call for ambitious action.

“Mayor Driscoll will bring hands-on climate experience from the municipal level to her role as lieutenant governor,” said Casey Bowers, Executive Director of the ELM Action Fund. “In Salem, she worked tirelessly to promote economic development through clean energy innovation, build resilient infrastructure, and foster growth in the offshore wind industry. She will help build a sustainable future for all residents of the Commonwealth. The ELM Action Fund is proud to endorse such an environmental champion.”

“I’m grateful for the support of the Environmental League of Massachusetts Action Fund, especially as Massachusetts faces a real crossroads and the need for climate action grows,” said Mayor Driscoll. “We have an opportunity to create a Climate Corridor right here in Massachusetts — to make Massachusetts a national and global leader in combating the climate crisis, strengthening our clean energy economy, and mitigating the energy costs residents are facing as we enter the winter months. The Healey-Driscoll administration will be ready on Day One to work alongside ELM to address our climate crisis and I’m grateful for their partnership.”

The ELM Action Fund also endorsed Kim Driscoll in her successful re-election campaign for Mayor of Salem in 2021. She became mayor in 2006. During her tenure, she has consistently prioritized climate resiliency. She led efforts on the city’s climate change mitigation plan and reduce its carbon footprint, while also helping the city and residents save on their electric bills. Following this, she worked with neighboring town Beverly to partner on developing short and long-term solutions to climate change. With her support, Salem has become a leader in offshore wind port development – a key issue she plans to support as Lieutenant Governor.
